America Online is Your Friend.
God I hate America Online. I really didn't want to write a rant about AOL, because by now everyone knows that they're PURE SHIT, but apparently some people still need to be educated.
This is how I view AOL:
Their services are that shitty.
"America Online, so easy to use, no wonder we're number 1!"
Their browsing software is evil. It requires a spawn of hell known as RealPlayer to play media in web pages. If you're serious about using a computer and the internet, you wouldn't be relying on ONE DAMNED PROGRAM FOR ALL YOUR NEEDS. If someone made a program that could do everything in the world, would you want to use it? No, it would be so slow it'd be shitty, just like AOL's software.
AOL says they have a "high speed" connection. They do this by distorting images until they look like complete and utter shit, ruining your web-browsing experience.
Then there's the scams. You're already paying nearly THIRTY FUCKING DOLLARS A MONTH for their DAIL-UP services, and they STILL try to get you to buy things from them! Like AOL Call Alert. That should be provided free of charge for putting up with their bullshit. Let's compare.
With most other service, the most you'll be paying is fifteen dollars a month. Then you can get this device to hook up to your computer for thirty dollars that flashes when a call is coming in. For just a little over what you'd pay for AOL in one month, your incomming calls problem would be permantly solved and you wouldn't have to pay monthly, and you're still getting a cheaper connection.
Now my personal favorite, the broadband scam.
What DUMBASS with broadband says "Wow, I'm already paying at least $30 a month for my broadband. Let's pay an EXTRA $30 a month for AOL to 'enhance' my high speed connection!"
If you try and find someone who is satisfied with AOL in every way, you'll find their owners, who manically laugh as the rake in the money from dumbass who use their services EVERY FUCKING DAY.
That's it for this rant. Don't use AOL. It's that simple.
